Nvidia, world renowned chip manufacturer, just announced their take on a portable gaming system – code named Shield ($TBD).

What might look like an ordinary XBOX controller, flip the lid up and you have a powerful gaming unit – comprised of Nvidia’s new Tegra 4 processor, an HDMI output, and a 5-inch display.

Shield also runs the Google Android operating system – allowing players the unique ability to play both Android and PC titles. Through Wi-Fi capabilities, players can access Google Play, or run games from Steam.

Not much else is known about the device, but the portable gaming market is about to get interesting.
